Event officials announced today that the Indy Women in Tech Championship driven by Group1001 has donated $180,000 to the Indy Women in Tech Foundation.

“The goal of the IWiT Championship has always been to use the spotlight of the LPGA Tour to raise funds and awareness for the foundation,” said Dan Towriss, President and CEO of Group1001. “Thanks to the ongoing support from the community, we have been able to achieve this goal. Through the tournament and the coinciding special events we have been able to further the initiatives and mission of IWiT, and have raised funds that will go towards a better future for women in Indy.”

The 2018 event, which took place from August 13-19, brought thousands of golf fans to The Brickyard Crossing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. In addition to hosting the world’s best golfers, the IWiT Championship held a number of special events throughout the week to unite the local tech community. Two of the marquee events were the IWiT Summit, which invited over 500 local tech leaders for a discussion on changing the culture within the local tech sector to be more inclusive, and The Eureka! Exchange STEM Day, which invited over 1,200 5th and 6th grade students to experience a number of engaging hands on STEM activities.

The $180,000 donation will go towards a number of women and tech initiatives, particularly those focused on robotics, STEM days and career transitioning for those re-entering the workforce. Specifically, the IWiT Foundation financially supports education and training programs with Eleven Fifty Academy and Ivy Tech to get women into tech roles. The foundation also donates VEX Robotics kits to schools all over Indiana and hosts the Ignite Your Superpower STEM Day for 600 middle school girls at IUPUI.

The IWiT Championship will return September 23-29, 2019 at The Brickyard Crossing Golf Course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and information can be found at www.iwitchamp.com. More Information on the IWiT Foundation can be found at www.indywit.org.
